Bridge City FC: Professional Indoor Soccer Returns to Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, PA — A new chapter in Pittsburgh’s sports legacy is being written with the launch of Bridge City FC, the city’s newest professional indoor soccer franchise. Founded by three passionate Pittsburgh natives with deep roots in the game — Jack Shearer, Josh Dimatteo, and Grant Glorioso — Bridge City FC is poised to reignite the Steel City’s love for fast-paced, hard-hitting indoor soccer.

All three founders boast NCAA Division I soccer pedigrees and professional indoor playing experience. Now, they’re channeling that on-field grit and know-how into building something much bigger: a team that represents the toughness, resilience, and pride of Pittsburgh.

“We’ve all played this game at the highest levels,” said Shearer. “But what we really wanted was to bring something back to the city — a team the community can rally behind, and a style of play that reflects what Pittsburgh is all about: grit, hustle, and loyalty.”

Bridge City FC will compete in the Major League Indoor Soccer (MLIS), with plans to host matches at Sewickley Sports Arena. A venue that mirrors the city’s blue-collar roots and bold energy. More than just a team, Bridge City FC aims to be a community centerpiece, offering youth clinics, supporter events, and a game-day atmosphere that feels uniquely Pittsburgh.

“This isn’t just about soccer,” said Dimatteo. “It’s about building a culture. Pittsburgh deserves a team that plays with heart and represents the city’s identity.”

With pro-caliber talent behind the scenes and a fan-first vision at its core, Bridge City FC promises to bring back the edge, excitement, and electricity the city once had with the Pittsburgh Spirit. The Spirit captivated the city in the 70's and 80's with their high pace and high scoring that led to their success. The success through the 80's led them to selling out Civic Arena and building a rich history of indoor soccer in the great city of Pittsburgh. Seeing how successful they were in this sports town just shows what can be brought back!  And as Glorioso puts it:

“We’re not here to test the waters. We’re here to hold the Bridge — and defend the ‘Burgh.”

The countdown has begun. Indoor soccer is back — and Bridge City FC is ready for the challenge.
